Provide young students with an opportunity to
participate in the creation of an electronic dictionary of animals.
Register to receive the THREE designated letters
of the alphabet for your class or participating students. Please include:
Students create an original piece of artwork for a
real animal whose name begins with one of those letters. Suggestions for
classroom activities, an assessment rubric, and additional instructional resources are provided.
Use ONLY paper sized 10cm by 10cm, crayons or colored
pencils for the student artwork. Computer drawing programs may also be used.
Choose one piece of artwork from your class to submit
for each assigned letter.
Have the creators of the entries write a complete
sentence about their animal in their own words to accompany their artwork.
See the example.
Furnish the student's name, grade, and school with
each entry so that they may receive recognition for their work.
Entries should be scanned, resized to 50% of the
original size, saved in .gif, .jpg, or .pict format, and emailed to
my address. If your school does not have the necessary equipment
for this, entries may also be 'snail' mailed to:
As entries are received they will be added to
Amazing to Zany. The complete dictionary may be viewed and printed
through your browser to share with your class or school.| Created by Michelle Childress |
